The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for the enforcement of all city codes, such as building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical, and for zoning ordinance compliance. This includes a review of building plans, issuance of permits, inspections, as well as investigations. The Code Enforcement Officer also ensures compliance with Brookfield’s zoning and nuisance ordinances.

Zoning regulates land uses within the City. Each parcel in the City is assigned to a zone which describes the regulations under which that land may be used. The Zoning Code identifies allowable uses and sets standards such as minimum lot size, maximum building height, and minimum front yard depth.
