“Let the people who care about you care for you”
Pershing Health System (view PHS website)
We provide care for all ages and provide a full range of services from our Family Health Clinics, Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Lab Services, Swing Bed Program, and specialty clinics. Pershing Health System (PHS) is dedicated in its commitment to providing quality health care to residents of Linn County and surrounding areas for many years. “Let the people who care about you, care for you” is our motto.
Pershing Health System operates two rural health clinics. Community Medical Associates is in Brookfield located inside the hospital’s main entrance. The Meadville Medical Clinic is located at 101 East Hayward in Meadville. Our clinics and providers focus on providing quality primary care services including primary healthcare for patients of all ages. Our family practice physician and nurse practitioners are trained to prevent, diagnose and treat a wide variety of ailments. For more information on the clinics please visit this page of the website: www.phsmo.org/clinics.
Pershing Health Systems proudly hosts visiting specialists in the clinic each month. These specialty clinics bring quality healthcare expertise right here, close to home. This convenient service allows patients to see specialists close to home, avoiding long trips to their physician’s office. Click here to view the outpatient specialty clinic calendar.
Another service that should be mentioned is the PHS Swing Bed Program. This allows patients to “swing” from acute hospital care, yet remain in a hospital setting receiving the skilled nursing and rehabilitation care needed to recover and gain the strength to return home. Sometimes a patient needs a little more time to recover before going home, but no longer requires acute hospital care. Since each individual is unique, treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s needs and recovery goals. Whatever a patient’s individual needs may be, the staff at Pershing Health System is here to help take that positive step back to good health! For questions about Pershing Health System’s Swing Bed Program, please call 660-258-2222 and ask for Heather Wood.

Pershing Health System History
Serving Brookfield and the surrounding area for over 50 years, General John J. Pershing Memorial Hospital DBA Pershing Health System is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital that opened for business as a non-profit hospital on January 11, 1960, in Brookfield, Missouri. Seeing the need to offer a larger scope of services, Pershing Memorial celebrated a Grand Opening for their new addition on October 4, 2008.
At that time, a state of the art Emergency Department was included in Pershing’s addition in 2008 as well as a new laboratory and Radiology Department. Community Medical Associates was brought into the hospital to provide more convenient access to ancillary departments.
The renovation included an employee dining room, kitchen, and moving the business operations into the renovated space at Pershing Health System. The Physical Therapy Department was renovated at a later date.
For more than 50 years, Pershing Health System and over 100 employees work together to achieve the mission to provide compassionate care to all individuals and the quality of life enjoyed by everyone in the communities they serve.
