Message from Brookfield City Manager

Filing will continue Monday through Friday with the exception of closing December 25 & 26 for Christmas.  The General Election is Tuesday, April 3, 2018.  One Council position is available.  Terms are three years.

Also on the ballot is a city issue called “Proposition B”.  This is NOT a new tax; this is a CONTINUATION of a sales tax of ¼ cent of one percent for an additional four years.  The residents have been supportive of this sales tax since 1998 and are hopeful this continues for another four years.  Many projects have been accomplished such as the fire station, city fire truck, demolition projects, public works equipment and many other projects.

On a personal note:

In the spirit of the Christmas season, I hope each of you have a very blessed Christmas with friends and family.  For those traveling, please be safe in your travels.  I am also mindful of those who have had losses and difficult times; may you find joy from those around you to help ease your burdens and woes, especially at Christmas time.

I leave with you a quote from Eric Sevareid (an actor and writer):

Christmas is a necessity.  There has to be at least one day of the year to remind us that we’re here for something else besides ourselves.

 Merry Christmas
