Brookfield City Council recently met regarding water usage.

BILL NO. 18.10                     CITIY OF BROOKFIELD                RESOLUTION NO. 18.03

In relation to Bill #89-3, passed by the Brookfield City Council April 25, 1989, relating to Water Conservation, the Brookfield City Council hereby determines that an emergency exits by reason of a shortage of water needed for essential uses due to drought conditions.

WHEREAS, the Brookfield City Council classifies the drought condition as a Stage 1 Voluntary Conservation Measure.  The following plan will be implemented this date until it can be determined that the emergency no longer exists.  This Resolution will only affect those citizens and commercial entities who receive water service from the City of Brookfield Water Department.

STAGE 1 – Suggested Voluntary Conservation Measures

  1. Repair leaky faucets, toilets and water pipes.
  2. Operate washing machines and dishwashers only when they are full.
  3. Be conscientious when showering or bathing.
  4. Do not let water run while shaving or brushing teeth.
  5. Water lawns and outdoor plants in late evening or early morning.
  6. Consider sweeping your sidewalks, driveways and patios rather than washing them.
  7. Minimal use of water for the washing of automobiles or other motor vehicles
  8. Do not refill your swimming pool.

WHEREAS, if weather conditions, expected trends in demand, or other factors indicate the threat of water shortage will continue, provisions of Stage II – Mandatory Conservation Measures may be implemented.  Should this occur, a public announcement will be made.

Members of the Brookfield City Council ask that citizens reduce or curtail the use of water as set forth in the conservation measures.

Enacted this 23rd  day of July, 2018.
